During the week of March 17th , GISCafe Voice will run a special feature blog on the topic, “Emergency Response and Management Solutions.

PrintGeospatial solutions, photos and maps are used increasingly in the world today to map and model potential disasters as well as to help manage recovery efforts after a disaster has occurred. Disasters both natural and manmade can be responded to with geospatial analytics to get critical information to stakeholders and citizens in a timely fashion before a disaster, as well as during the aftermath. Visualization technologies and web portals help those dealing with the consequences of a cataclysmic event. A lot of  citizen generated, field data and authoritative data are finding their way into the ultimate geospatial outcome, with data used by state, local and federal agencies as they work to collaborate between various involved agencies.

With the advent of mobile GIS, updates can be added from remote locations and hasten recovery efforts and accurate damage assessment.

In an effort to cover all companies offering Emergency Response software and related services, I have compiled the following questions. Also feel free to add to this, and to include images and/or videos to illustrate points.

Please fill out the Emergency Response Questionnaire and return to me on or before March 6th for inclusion in the article. You can reach me at
